Transition From Blogger to WordPress

I have been using Blogger for the past twelve months trying to find just the right template. For the most part Blogger is a great blogging format providing a number of different templates to install and customize.

I recently installed a custom template I came across and started tweaking it as much as I can, getting it to look like I wanted it to. After having my blog up for a couple of months with the new design, I login to do some editing, little and behold I was unable to access and of my widgets.

Blogger will only support the templates installed in your account providing you only use those templates. If you use the templates provided you will have full support allowing you to change the text styles and colors, and much more.

When you install a custom template your support will be down to zero, and you will have to have some kind of knowledge using HTML in order to fully customize that template. After not being able to access my widgets for weeks I decided to move my blog to WordPress, I have always loved the clean layouts WordPress provides not to mention a large amount of plug-ins and features to choose from, so what better time to move then now.

The transition to moving over to WordPress was quite simple in fact it only took me about 10-minutes to move everything because WordPress has a built in importer that allows you to move all your contents over to WB.

Before I go further into this post there are a few things you should know about hosting a WordPress blog, like owning your own domain, if your serious about blogging then having a custom domain is something you should have, why is it so important, because it will make your blog stand out from all the rest and give to all the rights to that domain and it’s contents placed on your site.

Domains are very inexpensive and at most around $5.00 to $10.00 bucks a year, I use Google domains and pay $10.00 dollars a year which is pretty good.

Another thing you’re going to need is a self hosting account this will give you full access to all the features WordPress provides such as widgets, plug-ins, customize templates. I use Hostgator their prices are GREAT and so is their customer service, I strongly recommend this service.

Self hosting has a lot of advantages not only does it give you full access to WordPress installations but, you also get a custom cpanel with your hosting account that also has tons of cool features and add-ons.
