How-to Convert Your Blog Into Your Online Business, The Starting Line

blog-collaboration-03

Three starting points to help you start earning online.

I bet the title of this blog post caught your eye right? That’s because we all have the same ideas and maybe the same intentions and have been wondering how do we start earning money with our blogs.

More and more, people are asking me these days how they can earn a living from blogging, first let me clear a few things for some people that have been mislead to believe that you can do this over night, that’s not true.

I know what you’re going to say, but I see tons of websites that say they make thousands of dollars blogging, we all know that you can’t believe everything you read on the internet; with that being said we have to use common sense.

Can you make money with your blog? You bet you can. The question you need to ask your self is what tools do I need and what do you have to offer people online that’s willing to pay you to start earning money on line.

There has been a misconception that earning a living as a blogger it as easy as pie, wrong. It takes hard work, dedication, and besides that, you have to have a plan of execution in place, and if you’re not willing to put in the time and effort, in to your new venture, you better quit right now.

It takes devotions do you have it?

I’m being totally honest with you and I’m not leaving anything out of this blog post and set the record straight, that trying to earn money as a blogger can only work if you really want it to and dedicated your time and devotion, just like anything else in life.

I spend hours online 365 days a years, writing and developing, the necessary skills to help me be a Independent mentor that’s willing to share things that most people wont and help you succeed online.

One of the biggest problems with trying to earn money with your blog that most people don’t understand is how to convert content, in to something that people are willing to buy.

Converting content, in to Revenue.

1-Sell your services be a consultant

If you are someone who love to show people how to accomplish things online then you have the skills to help other’s in need, by converting your knowledge in to a consultant service may allow you to start earning a very comfortable living.

Example: Bill Erickson is living proof that selling your services and blogging can allow you to make money online. He’s a consultant and designer, that provides a service to hundreds, if you would like to visit his website you can follow this link -
Bill Erickson.

  • What works for me

Placing ads on your blog

2-Use Google AdSense ad placement

Now I’m sure everyone has heard of Google AdSense right? This is another way to begin earning revenue with your blog and most conventional method. Although I use Google AdSense as a revenue generator for some of my online businesses, I find it not to work as well for my blog, one the reasons I said this because I really don’t like placing ads all over my blog.

So I only use AdSense for my- YouTube channel. You may see ads from time to time on my blog because I’m still in the experiential stages to see how I can get the best results.

Earn a commission from purchases

3-StudioPress Affiliate Program

StudioPress also offers an affiliate program that will allow you to earn a commission each time someone purchase items using your custom links that’s placed on your website or blog, I use this method and it works out very well for me.
Become a StudioPress Affiliate and Make Money!

I’ve only listed THREE! ways you can start earning money online because these are the methods that work for me, if you would like to share what works for you, please post your comments below I would love to hear from you.

Are you trying to start your own online business?

What methods are you using to be successful and be your own boss?

  1. Whoa! I didn’t know Studiopress had an Affiliate program! Too cool! I think some people want to make money from their blogs and others don’t. I mean, everyone wants money but me, personally, I don’t want to make money. I added some Affiliates and I’m thinking of removing them. I’m not blogging for the money, just to spread our word. However, others, like tech blogs as yours, I could see them/you wanting to make money, make a business from it. And if you can do it, more power to you! Good luck Rob! Great post!

    • Hello Brenda thanks for stopping by, yes StudioPress has a great Affiliate program that works very well. I normally don’t use Affiliate programs but since I love StudioPress I wanted to give them a try and I’m glad I did.

Let’s just say I have always been interested in earning revenue online for many years because I spend so much time here. I figure if I’m spending 365 days- a years online I might as well be getting paid right? so when opportunities come along I take them.

Please keep in mind it’s not the only reason I do what I do, I do it because I love helping people and it gives me great pleasure just to knowing someone got the help they needed just from watching one of my videos, or reading one of my tutorials.

Helping people is what motivates me and fuels the fire, earning a few bucks along the line it just a bonus. The way the web is setup it’s almost impossible not to :)

A few years back I also had my own hosting service, were I would provide hosting packages for your personal or business websites. After a few years I had to give it up because it was to time consuming and there was so many people doing it.

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts with me it’s always a pleasure,
      Have a great night Brenda.

  2. Hi Robert,

Thank you for sharing these three money making tips. It is good that you can direct others to some possible ways of earning money.

In this Information Age, the possibility of making money is endless. People do longer need just material products. The manufacturing sector has this huge competition now when more and more people are willing to invest money on information products.

Training membership site is another example of money making. Instead of earning ACTIVE income when doing coaching, one can earn PASSIVE income by providing valuable information in a membership site. Members pay monthly. Good membership sites also have additional bonuses such as some hours of personal coaching and exclusive access to FaceBook FanPage.

Creating a e-Book for sale is another way.

Relating to affiliate program, I trust that ClickBank and Amazon are great ones. I will explore those at the end of this year as my main focus now is in Network Marketing.

Keep up your great work, Robert!

  3. Hello Viola thanks so much for your comment. They’re so many ways you can earn, an ebook should be at the top of the list because it carries more value.

Most people are looking for simple ways to start making money so I wanted to give them some that I use. These are so simple ways to start until you can convert your content.

Thanks again for your visit looking forward to connecting with you.

  4. Rob, I have this one pin it also on my Pinterest. Very good article. You said the 1-2-3 how to make money and you’re right on the dot. Easy & Simple. I’m doing all three of them. Working on perfecting my website for being a Consultant. Also working on Google Adsense, although they haven’t approve of me yet but like they said, patience is the greatest virtue. And I didn’t realize I already have the ShareASale account. Have registered with them a couple months ago as an affiliate with HootSuite but I haven’t use them yet. So will apply too on StudioPress as one of their affiliate. Thank you so much!

  5. Rob, have you also done an e-Book,? That’s what I’m thinking of next. I’ve done some affiliates (via Linkshare) and have had some success with it as well Sponsored Tweets and of course the retail sites I have. It all takes a lot of time and commitment. Many people aren’t willing to give it the “all” for it. I still have a day job too but working online is my Plan B with so many layoffs in my industry. Google AdSense didn’t seem to do much for me but I could try that one again with traffic up. Thanks for the info Rob.

In my sense Google Adsense is the most easiest way to make revenue but if you want consistent revenue then you must have to build a blog readership and provide value to your readers.

I also feel it’s better to create your own products so you can set how much you want to earn, I means Google is great and all but, I like having control over what I do and.

Are you using Google AdSense and is it working for you the way you want it to?

Thanks so much for your comment my friend and I will talking to you soon.

  7. You suggested a very important point necessary for making money online and that is having the right tools and being prepared to invest in your online business. Adsense is OK but unless you have a huge amount of traffic it generally doesn’t amount to much.

It wasn’t until I started investing in my blog that the money started to come in on a regular basis. The first thing I purchased, other than a domain and hosting, was a professional theme which turned out to be the first product I started to sell. I paid for that theme many times over and it’s still bringing in money.
Sire recently posted…The Latest Technique To Beat Ad BlindnessMy Profile

    • Hello Sire thanks so much for stopping by my friend, yes depending on what you’re trying to accomplish we sometimes have to invest in order to make it happen. By that being said ask your self how far do I want to go? do I want to create my own online business.

I have also invested time and money, in my blog which I don’t mine at all. AdSense is also a great way to earn but you have to have the traffic or else it won’t work.

Thanks so much for the visit Sire it’s always a pleasure.

      • It is especially true if you’re trying to run a business whether it’s online or offline. I’ve been in business for over 30 years and it’s been my experience that a good investment policy is necessary if you want your business to grow and remain profitable.
Sire recently posted…How To Buy The Perfect GiftMy Profile

        • Hello Sire, that’s correct a business needs more then just creating it, you have to put time any money in to it to make it work.

Most people don’t understand this and it will ether make you or break your business.

If you don’t mind me asking what kind of business do you have? Thanks so much for your comment my friend.

          • At the moment, other than my online sites, I don’t have a business. However I did own a deli for seven years. Was partners in a shopping centre and a block of a dozen units for awhile and my last business was a milk run which I ran with my brother for 25 years.

We started off with one truck and built it up to a fleet of six trucks covering a pretty big area. That only happened because of investment decisions we made throughout the year.

Sold that a couple of years ago because we saw a downturn in the industry and we were not prepared to invest the required amount to stay in it. As it turns out it was the right choice.

  8. Hi Rob
I think most people want to make money, I don’t think from our blog mainly but by building up your blog and relationships with your readers and list then that in turn help you make money.
I tried Adsense when I first started out but it just did not work for me and to be honest I did not like my blog with all the ads on it so I removed them.
I love Affiliate Marketing and I am having success with that, I mainly use Clickbank, I had not heard of Studio Press so I will check it out.
    Thanks for sharing

    • Hello Pauline, building your readership is always good no matter if you want to earn from your blog or website. But I really feel that most blogger prefer earning form their blogs because of all the time they put in to creating content.

Affiliate Marketing would have never been on my list but has proven me wrong, I’m only associated with StudioPress right now and it’s working out very well.

I have a few more projects I am also working on but will take a bit more time to execute because of what I’m trying to accomplish.

Thanks so much for stopping by it’s always a pleasure.

  9. Hey Rob,

Interesting post and I think a lot of people have different views about this.

For instance I’m often told that you really don’t make money from your blog. You make the money from products you recommend and support due to the relationships you’ve built up with people who have found you through your blog.

Like adsense for instance. Once those people click on that ad they’re gone. What did you make from that three cents? It’s like Sire said, you have to have a ton of traffic coming to your site to even make a decent amount from adsense which is why you’ll never see that on my blog.

Recommending products and services now is how you can make some good money. Because your readers have come to know, like and trust you they’ll ask you what you’re using and purchase it through you! That’s the best way and a great way to make some mula.

I’m sure you and others have different views though so I always enjoy hearing what everyone else thinks too.

    ~Adrienne

    • Hello Adrienne, you are correct about AdSense, you can only earn if you have tons of people landing on your bog or website, that’s why I don’t use them for my blog it not worth my time.

Now using AdSense for my YouTube channel is well worth it because I get a lot of traffic up there.

Like you mention, products you create and develop or recommend, is the way to go if you want more control over how much you want to earn. I rather pass on using AdSense for my blog and build up a strong communication with my readers then making a few cents, In the long run it will have a better out come.

It’s very important to know what’s works and don’t work for your blog or website because it represents you and what your hoping to accomplish.

Thanks you so much for your valuable input it means a lot. Have a wonderful day Adrienne talk to you soon.

  10. Hi Rob,

Great post, my friend. I appreciate the advice you wrote about. I have to admit affiliate marketing is only something I’ve dabbled in slightly. I’m still not quite sure how to get it to work for my business. One thing, which really has helped me to make an income is through writing e-books.
Hiten recently posted…Obstacles to change and what to do about themMy Profile

    • Hello Hiten your very welcome, e-books is a great way to earn revenue because you have more control of your income, not to mention you have fun promoting what you have created.

Self made products I personally prefer over any other method because I don’t really like wondering how my income will reflect each month. I’m in the process to trying to convert my content, in to a product people can use to advance their online business’s or personal website.

Thanks so much for stopping buy my friend always a pleasure..Talk to you soon

  11. Hi Rob,

This is the first time I’ve visited your blog and I’ve really enjoyed your post.

I think to be creative in your business you have to think outside the box. You have to be bold and brave.

You have to stand by your decisions, but most of all you have to dedicate time, energy and focus to building that business up and share that creativity with as many people as possible.

I’ll certainly be coming back to your blog Rob and look forward to following your progress.

    Regards,
    Dean.

    • Hello Dean so nice to meet you also,

Thinking out side the box is a great term and very true, most people are not willing to do what it takes to build a strong foundation and dedicate their time to make it work.

I spend hours online each and everyday trying to connect and help others that may need my help. I knew what I was getting my self in to and don’t regret it one bit.

Trying to make a name for your self online is no easy task the more people you connect with the easier it will be to reach your goals.

Dean I can’t thank you enough for stopping by friend, I hope you don’t mine me adding you to my bloggers list.

Have a wonderful evening my friend talk to you soon.

  12. Hi Rob,

A great post and a point where people misunderstand what’s blogging is :) I usually see folks trying to make money from blogging than people who love blogging and earn doing what they love.

Hmm… If I talk about myself, I’ve started to offer services via my blog recently thinking when will I get hired :D lol… I did and I’m really glad I take my step into that level. I’m earning little from advertising too, but I just keep it optional. You know, like a bonus ;)

AdSense mostly works if you get more traffic mate. Clicks not gonna help much there as we all tend not to click ads ;) Anyway, overloading with ads is what I was talking about ~ blogging for money. Affiliates are another great way and something I always aware is that it something they have been using or used to get better results or satisfaction.

Personally, I think we can’t always do what others have been doing to earn money Rob :) There are millions opportunities and we need to go through and find what’s best for us. I’ve heard of stories that people try converting passion into money, but it may ruin the whole meaning. However risk is always involved with the success, but we can always make changes ;)

Have a fabulous week there mate :)

    Cheers…

  14. Nice points to increase your income through Blog and make it your full time online business. I have a resolution of making it big in blogging this year. Your tips are helpful.

  15. Hi Rob,

This is a really interesting post and highly relevant and timely for me, as I’m just on the verge of making steps to try to monetize my blog.

I intend to start by building a list of subscribers (I’m developing my free give-away to encourage sign-ups as we speak), then recommending products and services via email marketing to that list – so, basically, affiliate marketing initially.

I might have the odd advert on my blog, but I’m not that keen on the idea of AdSense – I’d rather just promote selected products that I’ve used myself and have confidence in.

Like you and Lisa, I’m also planning to write some eBooks – and maybe, in the long run, a training course of some sort – so many ideas, so little time!

    • Hello Sue, thanks so much for stopping by, building your list is very important and as you probably already know there’re many ways to accomplish this.

I think you have describes some of the key players when it comes to capturing email clients.

Having your own products is a GREAT way to do it because it’s gives you better control over what to offer your subscribers.

E-books is another good way to start earning I much rather choose this before I would use AdSense, using AdSense has not been a good experience for me on my blog and the fact that I really hate ads all over my pages is another reason I choose not to use them.

You have some great ideas for your blog I wish you all the best Sue if there’s anything I can do to help you please let me know. Have a great day..

  16. Hi Rob

Great information on what works for you.

I have had some ups and downs learning what I needed to do to get traffic. It is going fine with one of my blogs. Not enough hours in the day to accomplish as much as I would like. Investing my time in some online education and although I have just begun it is working out really well. Not totally sure where this will take me but anything is possible. Maybe a book when I am finally done.

We all believed it would be easy but the harsh reality it is not. But doing something one stands a better chance of changing their destiny. Do nothing and nothing will change or may even get worse.

Mary Stephenson recently posted…Conformity or Do You Stand Alone? My Profile

    • Hello Mary, I can surely agree with you about not having enough time in the day to get things done. I try to find what’s the best time for me to be productive and use that time to my advantage.

The weekends seems the best for me because I have more time to focus and write my articles. As far as getting more traffic I would have to say the more you engage with people online the better.

Connecting is the key to any successful online activities and will have a positive out come.

Thanks so much Mary for your comment and for stopping by your input is most valuable and appreciated. Have a great weekend….
